In 2007 Transocean joined the Gulf of Mexico Foundation, a not-for-profit organization working to ensure that the ecosystems of the Gulf of Mexico are preserved for future generations.
Transocean sits on the CEO Council and is represented on the Foundation’s board of directors along with the other partner organizations including some of our major clients like BP, Shell and Marathon Oil Company.
We recognize the importance of the Gulf of Mexico to the U.S economy. Its conservation will ensure that it remains an important ecosystem for many generations to come. After all, it is America’s sea, and we want to keep it shining.
The Foundation is involved in a number of nationally funded projects centered on coastal conservation, wetland preservation and also educational outreach with its award-winning Spanish Science Club Network. It is active in policy-maker dialogue in the U.S and Mexico and is a facilitator of dialogue between Foundation partners, external stakeholders and the regulator community. This important role fosters business, science and policy-maker interaction in a common forum.
